Happy Birthday Hubble!

Today on 24 April 1990 Hubble was launched into space by Space Shuttle Discovery from Kennedy LC-39B.

We can say that today was one of the most important day in astronomy because Hubble has taught us a lot about the universe,  it looked deeper and deeper into space and revealed the unknown secrets.

Remembering Edwin Hubble

Hubble Space Telescope is named after the American Astronomer Edwin Hubble  who played a crucial role in establishing the field of extragalactic astronomy and is generally regarded as one of the most important observational cosmologists of the 20th century. (wikipedia)

Hubble is the one who taught us that our universe is expanding, He is also known for providing  evidence that many objects then classified as "nebulae" were actually galaxies beyond the Milky Way.

He died on September 28, 1953 (aged 63) 37 years before the launch of hubble.

Where is the Control Room?

The Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) is responsible for the scientific operation of the telescope and the delivery of data products to astronomer, Located in BaltimoreMaryland.

And if you want time with Hubble then you need to apply for it, no matter where are you from their is no nationality restriction but the competition is very intense.
