New Horizons nearing closest approach, Returns new images

After travelling into space for 9 years NASA's New Horizons Spacecraft is just one day away from making Historic Encounter with Pluto. 

It has also returned back new images of Pluto and Charon which are sharp enough to fascinate geologists.

New Horizons  is a piano size spacecraft which works on a radioisotope thermoelectric generator that converts radioactive material into electricity. it needs less power than two 100-watt light bulbs for this long Pluto mission

After adding the color information obtained by Ralph instrument


The little moon is so big that Pluto and Charon are sometimes referred to as a double dwarf planet system. The distance between them is 19,640 km.

7 Science Instruments are on board with the spacecraft, which will help us understand the unknown alien world.
